  • Haryana 3 each (99.99 & 99.98)

8. Dropper vs Fresher Performance

  • InsideIIMs 2024 call data show freshers need ~1.5 percentile points higher overall than 1-2 yr work-ex peers to bag OLD-IIM shortlist]. Yet in final converts, repeaters (>1 attempt) comprise 58-60% of 99+ percentile pool

9. Academic Background of 99+ Percentilers

Engineers still dominate:

14. TITA Behaviour of Toppers

  • Trend since 2019
  • Top 1% attempt nearly every TITA (no negative marking).
  • Average 99+ scorer: 14-16 TITA attempts with 80% accuracy.
  • Sub-95%ilers often skip half of TITA due to time anxiety.

15. Bottom-Half Profile Analysis

  • Interviews with 100 sub-50%ilers (Shiksha, Feb 2025) reveal:
  • 64% come from non-math UG streams.
  • 75% devoted < 200 prep hours total.
  • 45% never took a full-length mock test.

Pandemic-era absenteeism (>16%) is shrinking; more serious aspirants now travel for the test.

18. Metro vs Non-Metro Gap

  • MBAUniverse slot analyses show test-centre-city size correlates with score: non-metro candidates averaged 5 raw marks lower in VARC & QA in 202.4 Yet DILR gap is < 1 markindicates reading speed and math exposure, not reasoning ability, drive the divide.

19. Normalisation & Category Impact

  • Scaled-score normalisation slightly lifts low-raw scorers in tougher slots. PwD/ST candidates in CAT 2024 saw up-shift of ~3 marks QA median, narrowing category gap at lower percentiles

20. Redemption: Sub-10%ile Next-Year Success

Scores plunged in 2023 (toughest paper in six years) but bounced back in 2024 when QA eased while DILR stayed tricky

Final Prep Pointers for CAT 2025 Aspirants

  • Target raw 100 if General; 87-90 suffices NC-OBC/EWS; 70-75 for SC/ST
  • DILR remains the king-maker”—one extra solvable set lifts percentile more than five QA MCQs.
  • Practise full TITA coveragefree marks when accuracy clocks 70%+.
  • Track mocks, not myths: a stable 90%ile in late-Oct mocks usually yields 95-96%ile live; fine-tune accordingly
  • Polish profile & PI earlya 99%ile may still miss BLACKI without strong academics, work-ex or diversity points
  • Good luck navigating the CAT 2025 maze armed with data rather than rumours!
