COLLEGE OVERVIEW

About IIM Jammu

Know the institute, its legacy and what makes it stand out.

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu) is a Government of India-established management institute located in Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir. The institute was established in 2016 and is an Institute of National Importance under the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017. IIM Jammu's flagship management offering is its two-year, full-time residential Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme.

For students researching IIM Jammu MBA admission 2026, the principal entrance examination for the flagship MBA is CAT. For the 2026–28 admission cycle, IIM Jammu used the CAT 2025 score as part of its selection process. The institute's published admission policy states that the MBA admission process consists of CAT 2025, shortlisting for the Personal Interview (PI), the PI process and preparation of the final merit list using CAT, PI and profile-related components. The proposed batch size for the 2026–28 MBA was around 300 students.

The CAT cutoff for IIM Jammu should be understood as a PI-shortlisting cutoff rather than a guaranteed final-admission cutoff. For General-category candidates in the 2026–28 admission policy, the published overall CAT cutoff was 91 percentile for General Male candidates and 89 percentile for General Female/Transgender candidates, with separate sectional thresholds. The institute also states that actual cutoffs can be revised depending on the number of candidates shortlisted and the admission process.

Academically, the IIM Jammu MBA follows a broad management curriculum rather than limiting students to a single functional discipline. The first year contains compulsory courses across finance and accounting, business communication, economics and business environment, marketing, organisational behaviour and human resource management, operations and supply chain, IT systems and analytics, and business policy and strategy. Students then choose electives in the second year. The curriculum also includes an 8–10 week summer internship.

IIM Jammu's academic ecosystem has expanded beyond the flagship MBA. The institute also offers programmes including MBA in Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management, Integrated Programme in Management, Executive MBA, Ph.D., and other management and executive education programmes. However, the flagship two-year MBA remains the principal programme considered for standard IIM Jammu MBA fees, CAT cutoff and MBA placement searches.

The institute's latest published NIRF ranking is 35th in the Management category in NIRF 2025, according to the Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework. IIM Jammu also announced that it secured 19th position in IIRF India Rankings 2026.

IIM Jammu operates its permanent campus at Jagti, Jammu, spread across 200 acres. The campus was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024. The institute's official website now identifies Jagti as its main campus and continues to host academic, placement and institutional activities there.

The institute also has international quality credentials. IIM Jammu's Placement Chairperson states that the institute has achieved BGA and EFMD accreditations for its MBA programme, with the BGA accreditation valid for five years and EFMD accreditation for three years. The institute is also progressing toward AACSB accreditation, but AACSB should not be presented as an already completed accreditation.

For placements, the latest final placement report listed by IIM Jammu is for the MBA 2024–26 batch. The institute's official placement page confirms that this report is available as the latest completed flagship MBA placement report.

Important Dates 2026

Key deadlines and upcoming events

For students researching IIM Jammu admission 2026, the relevant admission cycle for the flagship MBA was the 2026–28 batch, based on CAT 2025. Since admission activity for this cycle has already progressed during 2026, these dates should be understood as the official 2026 admission-cycle timeline rather than upcoming dates.

The first major requirement was participation in CAT 2025, because IIM Jammu's MBA admission policy specifically used CAT 2025 for the 2026–28 batch. Candidates subsequently participated in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2026 where applicable. CAP 2026 was jointly conducted for IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu and IIM Sirmaur.

The CAP 2026 portal went live on January 21, 2026. The CAP process was divided into two stages. Stage I involved submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI), subject to the applicable CAT percentile cutoff. Candidates shortlisted for Stage II were then required to pay the application fee and select a Personal Interview slot.

For the CAP 2026 process, the EOI submission window was January 21–28, 2026. The application-fee payment deadline was February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, while venue and slot selection closed on February 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The application fee for General, NC-OBC and EWS candidates was ₹2,000, while SC, ST and PwD candidates were charged ₹1,000.

The CAP 2026 PI schedule included multiple locations. The official schedule listed IIM Jammu's own PI dates as March 2–3, 2026. Other PI locations included Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Sirmaur. Candidates were required to select preferred cities during the CAP process, subject to the available slots.

The CAP 2026 process also specified documentation requirements. Candidates were required to upload documents such as their photograph and signature, government identity proof, CAT 2025 scorecard, Class 10 and 12 or diploma documents, bachelor's-degree documents and applicable work-experience or category certificates. Work experience considered for CAP 2026 was required to have been earned after completion of the relevant bachelor's degree.

For IIM Jammu's own MBA admission policy, the last date for withdrawal of the provisional admission offer and refund of the fee paid was 5:30 PM on June 21, 2026. The institute also states that the admission committee can modify criteria or cutoffs until the admission process is completed.

Students looking for the next IIM Jammu MBA admission cycle should not treat these dates as the 2027–29 schedule. The official 2026–28 dates relate to CAT 2025 and CAP 2026. Any dates for the next cycle should be taken from the institute and CAT authorities once officially published.

As of the 2026 academic cycle, IIM Jammu's official website continues to list its MBA Admission Policy alongside other 2026 admission information, while its homepage separately lists current 2026 admissions activity for programmes such as IPM, EMBA and eBBA.

Courses Offered 2026

Programs and specializations available

The flagship course at IIM Jammu is the two-year, full-time residential Master of Business Administration (MBA). The programme is structured across six terms and combines compulsory foundation courses, a summer internship and second-year elective courses. The curriculum is designed to give students exposure to multiple functional areas of management before allowing greater choice through electives.

The IIM Jammu MBA curriculum includes compulsory first-year coursework in Finance and Accounting, Business Communication, Economics and Business Environment, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Operations/Supply Chain and Decision Sciences, IT Systems and Analytics, and Business Policy, Strategy and General Management. The first year includes 64.5 core-course credits and a three-credit summer internship.

The summer internship is an important component of the flagship programme. IIM Jammu specifies an 8–10 week Summer Internship Programme with a company or organisation. The internship carries three academic credits and is intended to provide practical exposure following the first-year coursework.

In the second year, students complete 48 credits through elective courses. The official curriculum lists electives across areas such as finance and accounting, IT systems and analytics, operations and supply chain, economics and business environment, and business policy, strategy and general management. Examples include financial reporting and analysis, insurance management, data science and machine learning, big-data analytics, digital transformation, supply-chain analytics, international trade and policy, competitive strategy, strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions.

IIM Jammu does not officially describe the flagship MBA as a programme with fixed named specializations in the way some PGDM institutes do. Instead, students build academic depth through the elective structure. Therefore, areas such as Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations or Analytics should not automatically be labelled as formal MBA specializations unless the institute specifically designates them as such.

Besides the flagship MBA, IIM Jammu offers several other management programmes. These include MBA in Hospital Administration and Health Care Management (MBA HA&HM), the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), Executive MBA (EMBA), and the Ph.D. programme in Management. The institute also offers newer specialised offerings, including the MBA in AI & Business Analytics in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology.

The MBA HA&HM is a separate two-year programme delivered through collaboration involving IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu. Its curriculum contains management courses along with healthcare-specific learning, and it should not be confused with the flagship MBA when researching IIM Jammu MBA fees or placements.

The IPM is a five-year integrated programme. The first three years follow the undergraduate/BBA structure, after which the later two years are merged with the institute's MBA structure subject to the programme requirements. Students can also have an exit option under the applicable academic rules.

IIM Jammu also offers an MBA in AI & Business Analytics in collaboration with AIT Thailand. Its curriculum contains significant coursework in algorithms, programming for analytics, business analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, business intelligence, natural-language processing and related areas. The 2026–28 batch size for this programme was stated as likely to be 60.

For the flagship MBA 2026–28 admission cycle, the relevant entrance examination was CAT 2025. Other exams should not be mixed into the flagship MBA admission information merely because IIM Jammu accepts them for separate programmes such as the EMBA.

IIM JAMMU

Admission Process 2026

Eligibility, selection process and how to apply

The IIM Jammu MBA admission process 2026 for the 2026–28 batch was based primarily on the CAT 2025 examination, followed by shortlisting, Personal Interview and final merit-list preparation. IIM Jammu's official admission policy states that candidates were assessed using CAT, PI and profile-related parameters.

1. Eligibility

For the flagship MBA, candidates must satisfy the eligibility conditions specified in the current admission policy. Candidates should always refer to the official policy for the applicable academic qualifications, category requirements and final-year-student provisions because these conditions can change between admission cycles.

2. CAT

The primary entrance examination for the flagship MBA is CAT. For the 2026–28 batch, IIM Jammu used CAT 2025. The institute's policy provides separate sectional and overall percentile thresholds for different reservation categories and gender groups.

For General-category candidates, the published 2026–28 PI-shortlisting threshold was 91 overall percentile for General Male candidates, with sectional thresholds of 72 in VARC, DILR and QA. For General Female/Transgender candidates, the overall threshold was 89 percentile, with 71 in each section.

3. CAP 2026

IIM Jammu participated in CAP 2026, the Common Admission Process involving IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu and IIM Sirmaur. CAP 2026 itself published a minimum General-category threshold of 90 overall percentile and 65 sectional percentile for its participating IIMs. However, candidates should not confuse this CAP threshold with IIM Jammu's own published MBA PI-shortlisting cutoff.

CAP consisted of an EOI stage followed by further shortlisting for the PI stage. Candidates who reached Stage II had to pay the applicable application fee and book a PI slot. IIM Jammu's PI dates in the CAP 2026 schedule were March 2–3, 2026.

4. Personal Interview

The Personal Interview is an important component of the IIM Jammu selection process. After the CAT-based shortlisting stage, eligible candidates participate in PI. The institute then combines CAT performance, PI performance and profile scores to prepare the final merit list.

5. Final Selection

The final selection is therefore not determined by CAT percentile alone. IIM Jammu's admission policy specifies a composite approach that considers CAT, Personal Interview and profile components. The profile component can include academic performance, work experience and diversity-related factors according to the published admission policy.

6. Offer and Fee Payment

Candidates who receive an admission offer must follow the institute's instructions for offer acceptance and fee payment. IIM Jammu specifies an offer-acceptance amount of ₹50,000, which is adjusted against the first-term fee for candidates who accept the offer. The institute also specifies conditions and deadlines for withdrawal and refunds.

It is important to distinguish the CAT eligibility/shortlisting cutoff from the final admission threshold. A candidate meeting the published percentile cutoff is not automatically guaranteed an MBA seat. The institute can also modify the effective shortlisting threshold depending on the number of candidates and seats available.

For candidates preparing for future IIM Jammu MBA admissions, CAT should remain the central examination keyword for the flagship MBA. However, candidates should always use the admission policy for the specific batch because percentile thresholds, selection weights, application procedures and dates may change.

IIM JAMMU

Fees Structure 2026

Program fee and other expenses

The latest officially published IIM Jammu MBA fee structure for the 2026–28 batch lists a total programme fee of ₹22,80,756 for the two-year MBA. The institute divides the fee into three terms in each academic year. The official structure separately identifies tuition fees and other academic/non-academic expenses.

For the first year, IIM Jammu lists tuition fees of ₹2,39,635 per term, resulting in ₹7,18,905 for the year. Other academic and non-academic expenses are listed at ₹1,39,491 per term, totalling ₹4,18,473. The first-year total is therefore ₹11,37,378.

For the second year, tuition remains ₹2,39,635 per term, totalling ₹7,18,905. Other academic and non-academic expenses total ₹4,24,473 for the year because the fourth-term amount is ₹1,45,491 while the fifth and sixth terms are ₹1,39,491 each. The second-year total is ₹11,43,378.

The resulting official two-year programme fee is ₹22,80,756, or approximately ₹11.40 lakh per academic year when expressed as a simple annual equivalent. The annual figure is only an arithmetic equivalent; the institute officially publishes the fee by academic term and year rather than as a fixed annual fee.

The other academic and non-academic component includes several services and facilities. IIM Jammu specifically states that this component includes academic support, library fees, hostel fees, IT infrastructure, student welfare, alumni fees and health insurance, among other expenses. This is important because the total programme fee is not simply tuition.

A ₹50,000 refundable caution deposit is also payable at admission in addition to the stated fees and expenses. The institute separately states that the ₹50,000 deposited while accepting the admission offer is adjusted against the first-term fee.

Mess bills are not included as a fixed amount in the programme fee. IIM Jammu states that mess bills are payable according to actual consumption/charges. Therefore, students calculating the complete cost of attending IIM Jammu should distinguish between the published academic/non-academic programme fee and variable mess expenses.

Students should also avoid confusing the flagship MBA fee with fees for IIM Jammu's other management programmes. For example, the MBA in Healthcare Management, MBA in AI & Business Analytics and Executive MBA have separate programme structures and fee arrangements. The ₹22.81 lakh figure applies specifically to the flagship MBA 2026–28 programme.

For students researching IIM Jammu MBA fees, the official 2026–28 fee structure is therefore the appropriate current reference. Earlier batches may have had materially different fees, so historical fee figures should not be presented as the current cost of the programme.

The placement process involved more than 260 participating recruiters, with more than 70 new recruiters participating in the cycle. The batch received approximately 320 offers, including 30 PPO/PPI offers according to reporting based on the latest placement report.

The latest placement data also reports an average CTC of ₹22.90 LPA for the top 10% of the batch and ₹21.13 LPA for the top 25%. The reported lowest CTC was ₹9.00 LPA. These figures provide additional context beyond the headline highest package.

Recruiters reported across the cycle included organisations such as Accenture, Axis Bank, Barclays, Deloitte, EY, HDFC Life, Infosys, Larsen & Toubro, Maruti Suzuki, PwC, Tata Motors and others.

IIM Jammu's curriculum also incorporates practical exposure before final placements. The flagship MBA includes an 8–10 week summer internship carrying three credits, designed to connect classroom learning with organisational experience. The institute maintains separate summer-placement and final-placement reports on its official corporate-relations section.

The placement process itself is coordinated through IIM Jammu's Placement Office and Student Placement Committee. Recruiters provide job descriptions, conduct pre-placement interactions and then undertake their respective selection processes. IIM Jammu provides infrastructure and logistical support for campus recruitment while organisations may also conduct online or off-campus selection processes.

For students researching IIM Jammu average package, the latest available average is therefore ₹16.47 LPA for the MBA 2024–26 batch. For the IIM Jammu highest package, the latest available figure is ₹26.60 LPA. The corresponding median is ₹15.00 LPA.

These placement figures should not be treated as guaranteed salaries for future batches. Placement outcomes vary according to batch composition, recruiter demand, economic conditions, roles offered and individual student performance. The institute's official placement page should be used for subsequent placement reports as they become available.

For the current 2025–27 MBA cohort, IIM Jammu has already published placement-related information and continues to operate its placement process. However, final placement results for that batch are not yet the completed latest placement cycle as of September 2026. Therefore, the 2024–26 placement report remains the appropriate completed placement reference for the 2026 information page
